That ruled him out the Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg trouncing at the hands of Manchester City midweek.
But the £85million centre-back has hauled himself off the treatment table and insisted he is ready for action against Norwich.
Solskjaer said: “It’s not a surprise, he’s a warrior and if there’s a minor problem he’ll put himself up to play.
“He was close to playing against City but was just not fit enough but he’s got a chance now.”
United have come in for some heavy criticism since their 3-1 defeat to City on Tuesday night but boss Solskjaer insists they must bounce back immediately.
He said: “Every game is an opportunity. If Manchester City were here in the league next you would say it was a perfect opportunity.
“You’re disappointed when you lose a game against local rivals but which way is there to go do you feel sorry for yourself or knuckle down and get ready for the next one,.
“If players are feeling sorry for themselves, they’re not in the right place.
“Norwich is the next game, you play for Manchester United in front of the best fans in the world what is there not to like in that situation.”
United will be without Jesse Lingard against Norwich after he was hauled off at half-time in the defeat to City on Tuesday.
Solskjaer says he is ill.
Manchester United are in the midst of an injury crisis at the back
Meanwhile there is still uncertainty over club captain Ashley Young’s future with a move to Inter Milan in the offering.
He said: “He’s one of our players, our captain.
“There’s loads of speculation, we’ve just got to handle it and Ashley’s been very professional and focused so I don’t think that’s going to change.”
