And when he heard how some people were struggling financially as a result of the pandemic, Fosu-Mensah dug deep to help out.

According to De Telegraaf, the footballer handed out a hundred vouchers worth £45 each to those in need.

He tweeted out his thanks to the supermarket for helping him with the kind gesture.

The player’s agent Albert Kissi told Dutch TV channel AT5: “We received signals from Amsterdam Zuidoost that several families had to borrow money because of the corona crisis in order to do their shopping.

“Under normal circumstances, that could and should never happen.”

Fosu-Mensah faces an uncertain wait to find out his future as talks surrounding his contract have reportedly stalled amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Red Devils star is reported to be in the dark over whether or not United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is prepared to trigger a one-year extension on his current deal.

The 22-year old Dutch ace’s contract is set to expire in June and he had hoped to prove to the United hierarchy he was worth a new deal before Covid-19 slammed the door shut on world football.

The Mirror say the former Ajax youth star’s future remains up in the air after only returning to action with United’s under-23s in January after injury.
