Giggs hailed qualification after November’s 2-0 victory over Hungary thanks to Aaron Ramsey’s double as “one of the greatest nights of his life”.

It is only the third time – after 1958 and 2016 – in Wales’ history that they have reached a major tournament.

The Manchester United legend, who is on a £400,000-a-year salary, is halfway through his four-year contract with the next mission to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

Euro 2016 semi-finalists Wales, like the other 23 finalists, will receive a total of £8million in Uefa prize money for reaching the finals.

And SunSport understands the Welsh FA will spend two-thirds of that figure – approximately £5.5million – on bonuses to share between players and backroom staff.

The bonus scheme will also see the association pay the National Insurance due.

Another 30 per cent is set aside for travel and accommodation costs while Wales expect to make a five per cent profit which would be reinvested back into facilities and grassroots football.

Wales face Group A opponents Switzerland and Turkey in the Azerbaijan capital of Baku before taking on Italy in Rome.

A Euro 2020 finals group stage win is worth £1.2million while a draw earns them almost £650,000.

Meanwhile, Giggs’ predecessor Chris Coleman is wanted by both the BBC and ITV to be part of their television coverage at the finals.

Cookie, 49, could be used as either a co-commentator or a studio guest and is one of only five British managers to reach the last four of a major tournament.

He follows Sir Alf Ramsey, Sir Bobby Robson, Terry Venables and Gareth Southgate after guiding Wales to the semi-finals in France.
