MANCHESTER UNITED have joined Arsenal in the battle to sign Gent’s Jonathan ‘Iceman’ David.
The 20-year-old striker has scored an astonishing nine goals in his past SIX league games.
Man Utd are interested in signing Gent’s striker David
He has 22 strikes in all this season for the Belgian side and was the subject of a rebuffed £5million bid from Porto.
Useful everywhere across the frontline, David – who was born in Brooklyn, New York – moved to Belgium in 2018 from Ottowa Internationals.
David – who got the nickname ‘Iceman’ because of his composure under pressure – bagged a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over St Truiden last weekend.
The Daily Mail report that United scouts have taken notice of his exploits.
And they are expected to watch him in Gent’s Europa League clash against Roma on Thursday night.
It is believed that Everton and Leicester are among the other Premier League clubs weighing up a transfer.
David was previously voted Canada’s Player of the Year.
He has 11 goals in 12 internationals for his country and is rated at around £18m.
Mason Greenwood, United’s 18-year-old striker, has impressed of late.
He scored in his side’s easy 3-0 win over Watford and has proved a good back-up to Marcus Rashford.
England striker Rashford is suffering with a bad back.
The fracture he suffered is worse than first thought and it is feared he may not be fit in time for Euro 2020.
