Man Utd decided against rivalling Chelsea for bargain Ziyech transfer to pursue Sancho, Maddison and Grealish

MANCHESTER UNITED opted against rivalling Chelsea for Hakim Ziyech… because they reportedly have their sights firmly set on Jadon Sancho, James Maddison and Jack Grealish.

The Red Devils had considered a move for the 26-year-old Ajax schemer ahead of his £36.7million move to Stamford Bridge.

But after being informed that Sancho will be leaving Borussia Dortmund in the summer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side decided not to rival Chelsea for the Moroccan.

According to the Standard, Sancho has been a key target for United for over 12 months now, but his club had made it very clear that they wouldn’t be entertaining bids.

With that position having now changed, United will go all out to secure the 19-year-old’s signature in the summer.

Chelsea themselves have also been strongly linked with the 11 cap England international.

And SunSport exclusively revealed that the Blues’ capture of Ziyech does NOT mean that they won’t still try for Sancho.

United, however, are the clear favourites, with Sancho’s fee of upwards of £100million not putting Old Trafford chiefs off.

The move would smash the club’s record transfer, currently still the £89million paid to Juventus for Paul Pogba.

Sancho fits the profile of young, British player that Solskjaer evidently favours as he attempts to lead United into a new era.

Last season’s summer recruits Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire all fit this mould.

And the Red Devils are also targeting playmakers Jack Grealish and James Maddison for their summer spending spree.

Solskjaer’s side are currently face a tough battle to secure Champions League football next season for their potential new recruits, as they sit way down in eighth place – six points off the top four.
