Man Utd chief Ed Woodward was paid more than any other Premier League director last season after earning £3.2m

MANCHESTER UNITED chief Ed Woodward was paid more than any other Premier League director last season after earning £3.2million.

The Old Trafford executive vice-chairman commanded the highest fee in the top flight, despite the team enduring another horror year.

According to accounts published by The Times, United paid their 12 directors, including Sir Alex Ferguson, a combined £6.8m.

All the while, the club limped to sixth place in the Premier League in a season which also saw Jose Mourinho sacked and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer brought in.

Woodward has been the main target for abuse from disgruntled United fans in recent seasons.

He is responsible for the main day-to-day running of the club, including the financial side of transfers.

And, according to the published accounts, only ONE Premier League chief even comes close to Woodward – Tottenham’s Daniel Levy.

The Spurs chief raked in £3m last season.

Despite United struggling to get back into contention for a Champions League spot – let alone win the Premier League – the club are doing well financially.

The club made a profit of £19m last season alone as revenues continued to grow.

However, officials have warned investors those profits are likely to take a big hit in the coming months due to their lack of Champions League football.
