Man Utd are in talks with ex-PSG transfer guru Antero Henrique over director of football role

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly discussing a deal to bring Antero Henrique in to oversee the club’s transfer activity.

Henrique, 51, most recently spent two years as Paris Saint-Germain sporting director after a long association with Porto.

The Red Devils do not currently have a person in that exact role with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward responsible for bringing players to Manchester.

And now Italian outlet TMW claim Henrique is in talks to move in to Old Trafford.

In Henrique’s first summer in Paris, Brazilian stars Neymar and Dani Alves both signed along with Kylian Mbappe – on a deal crafted as an initial loan switch.

The 2018/19 pre-season was far quieter as Schalke prospect Thilo Kehrer and Argentine playmaker Leandro Paredes, recently linked to United, counted as the biggest outlays.

PSG won the Ligue 1 title in both of those campaigns before Portuguse director Henrique left amid rumours of disputes with fellow club bosses.

Before that spell, he held a number of positions with Porto including sporting director and the club won seven league titles during his tenure.

Woodward has become a symbol of the club’s demise having begun work in his current role in 2012.

This month in particular is yet to see a transfer signing completed as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeks both a central midfielder and striker.

Reported moves for Bruno Fernandes, Matias Vecino and Emre Can are yet to come off with fans incredulous at links to Islam Slimani and Carlos Tevez.
