Man City should be punished for any alleged breach of FFP, says LaLiga boss Javier Tebas

MANCHESTER CITY should be punished for any alleged Financial Fair Play breaches, claims LaLiga’s boss.

A panel of Uefa “judges” is expected to rule this month after the clubs’ financial control body recommended sanctions against City.

The Prem champions have consistently maintained their innocence and have pledged to fight any punishment.

But Tebas believes both City and French giants Paris Saint-Germain deserve to be hit hard.

The Spaniard said: “A sanction needs to be imposed.

“I do know the Manchester City figures, where their income comes from and that figures don’t add up to a certain extent, if we take into account the market figure.

“So I think that some kind of penalty needs to be imposed.”

City will be infuriated with Tebas’ intervention, having long accused him of double standards over his protection of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Uefa opened their probe following the Football Leaks document dump, in which it was alleged the club hid millions in backing from City’s Abu Dhabi owners under the guise of sponsorship income.

City have remained furious at the “hacked or out of context” club emails and launched a fierce attack on Uefa investigations head Yves Leterme, an ex-Belgian Prime Minister.

Leterme was accused of running a “wholly unsatisfactory, curtailed and hostile process” against City.

But Tebas feels Uefa have actually been too SLOW in dealing with the case.

He added: “Uefa have dealt with some FFP cases in the right way and for that they should be congratulated.

“But there are two specific cases, Manchester City and PSG, which I think are not being dealt with correctly.

“When we have clubs being financed by states, this causes inflation.”
