Man City fans protest against ‘Uefa cartel’ in first game since Champions League ban for FFP offences

MANCHESTER CITY fans protested their Champions League ban with banners describing UEFA as a “scam” and a “mafia”.

The Etihad club’s game against West Ham was their first since they were fined £25million and barred from European competition.

The club have said they will take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in a bid to clear their name and avoid a costly exile.

However, City have already been warned that it may take MONTHS before they find out their FFP fate.

As a result, fans were heard singing: “We’ll see you in court, we’ll see you in court – F*** off UEFA, we’ll see you in court!” ahead of the clash against West Ham.

Supporters also chanted owner Sheikh Mansour’s name and displayed banners calling UEFA a “cartel” and describing the ban as a “scam”.

City’s home game against the Hammers, which was rearranged from 10 days ago due to Storm Ciara, was also notable for the amount of empty seats in the stadium.

The club’s chief executive Ferran Soriano had insisted earlier today that they were not guilty of Financial Fair Play breaches.

He said: “Well the most important thing I have to say today is that the allegations are not true.

“They are simply not true.

“The owner has not put money in this club that has not been properly declared. We are a sustainable football club, we are profitable, we don’t have debt, our accounts have been scrutinized many times, by auditors, by regulators, by investors and this is perfectly clear.”
