Liverpool currently sit 13 points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand over the chasing pack.
But Klopp is fearful he will be caught short in defence due to a series of injuries already this season, with a massive few months ahead.
Joe Gomez, Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip have all suffered injuries this season, with Jordan Henderson forced to play at centre-back for the Club World Cup semi-final against Monterrey.
In recent months, Henderson’s fellow midfielder Fabinho has been asked to deputise in the heart of defence.
Now, in a desperate bid to pair superstar defender Virgil van Dijk with a regular partner, Klopp is said to raid the Spanish giants.
Carlos, 26, only joined Sevilla last summer from French side Nantes in a £13.5m deal but has gone on to play 20 times in all competitions this season, scoring twice.
In fact, the Brazilian has played all but 15 minutes of Sevilla’s La Liga action in 2019-20.
Spanish outlet El Desmarque claim Liverpool are now chasing his signature this month, with Carlos having a £65m release clause in his contract.
However, the report also states La Liga giants Real Madrid are on the prowl as they look to address their own defensive issues.
Elsewhere, Liverpool face a fight to cling on to star man Sadio Mane, with Los Blancos keen on signing the flying winger.
And Klopp will have to make do without new signing Takumi Minamino against Sheffield United due to Premier League restrictions.
