Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp ‘feels sorry’ for Man City rival Pep Guardiola over two-year Uefa ban

JURGEN KLOPP feels sorry for Pep Guardiola and the Manchester City players over their Uefa ban.

But the Liverpool boss believes what City is accused of is “obviously serious” because they have been given a two-year ban from European competition.

Klopp said: “I really feel for Pep and the players because, wow, they did nothing wrong they just played sensational football.

“When it came out it was a complete ‘Wow, what is that?’

“The only thing I can say is that I am a football coach and what Pep and City have done since I arrived in England is exceptional.

“All the rest I have no idea what happened and who did what.

“But I can imagine in this moment it is really difficult for the sports people to understand.

“Wherever Pep was he helped each league to improve.

“You believe the people you work with and what they tell you is happening but somebody sees it completely different.

“In the end we all have to respect some rules.

“I have no idea if they did, or not, but obviously Uefa sees it that they didn’t and we will see what happens.

“City will appeal and we will see what happens but it is obviously serious otherwise Uefa wouldn’t react like this.

“But the football they play is exceptional.”
