Hammers boss Moyes, whose side led through Pablo Fornals’ opener, said: “It’s not the sort of football I want to be involved in.

“I think our player stops and throws his arms up because he’s so disappointed about the dive.

“I’m just disappointed they didn’t turn the decision around. Maybe in the second half a decision went for us, but the first-half one didn’t.

“I am amazed the penalty kick was given for the action in the first half.

I really am. I am getting disappointed now. Not with the decision but more disappointed that we are allowing those penalty kicks to be accepted. In my books, it is not a penalty

“We are disappointed. I would not say we were unlucky. One of them went for us as they had a goal disallowed but at 1-0, the penalty was given.”

Liverpool equalled their previous best of 63 unbeaten home League games.

After Jota had an effort ruled out for a foul from Sadio Mane on Lukasz Fabianski, he showed his quality with a fine late strike.

Jota said: “It means a lot. On the bench, I was thinking about what I could do differently to affect the result. I got two goals and one counted.

“For me, the first one was a goal. I did not see anything suspicious. That did not count and we still won. I got the space after a great pass from Shaq and scored.”

Due to the club’s injury problems, Klopp handed a debut to defender Nat Phillips.

Klopp said: “He did really well. Your first game for Liverpool is a big thing. Nat was on the way to America three years to study in college and now he has played for Liverpool. It is a really nice story. I thought the lads did well.”

Phillips, 23, said: “It is massive to play. It is something I have dreamed of.

On Thursday at training, the gaffer mentioned to me that I could be playing. If the opportunities come up again, I will be ready.”
