MANCHESTER UNITED midfielder Jesse Lingard has bizarrely been compared to Andres Iniesta.
Despite the England man enduring a tough season with just two goals in 32 games this season, former United assistant Rene Meulensteen has reserved high praise for him.

Lingard’s goals have come against Astana in the Europa League and Tranmere in the FA Cup.
He has not netted in the Premier League since December 22, 2018 where he bagged a brace in a 5-1 win against Cardiff.
He finished 2019 with no goals and incredibly no assists.
Iniesta, meanwhile, will go down in football history as one of the greatest ever. He won a total of 35 trophies in his time with Barcelona.
JESSE NEEDS ‘LUCK’
Speaking to the Michael Anthony Show about Lingard’s Old Trafford career, Meulensteen said: “Jesse had various loan clubs and then he came back.
“And I think Louis van Gaal was the manager at the time and Louis was very big on bringing young players through and Jesse got the chance to suddenly play in the first team and so did [Marcus] Rashford.
“That’s the luck that you need and certain managers can see it.
“Jesse always had attributes in his game as Iniesta had for Barcelona.”
SunSport exclusively revealed last month how boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was prepared to let Lingard leave the club.
The 27-year-old’s contract runs until the end of next season and he is reported to be using agent Mino Raiola, who has caused problems with his handling of Paul Pogba.
