The League Two club’s first-team squad have also entered a further seven days of self-isolation.

O’s boss Ross Embleton said: “It is a worry that it has impacted our club directly.

“The positive for us is that the symptoms have not got any worse and the player in question is improving every day.”

Professional, non-league and grassroots football is currently in hiatus as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

The O’s, currently in seventeenth in their division, have won only two of their last 12 games.

Their last match before fixtures were suspended was a a 2-1 win against Cambridge United.

The chair of Orient’s Essex rivals Colchester United is urging the Premier League to open its coffers to help lower league clubs struggling financially following the coronavirus outbreak.

On Tuesday, the EFL – which oversees the Championship, League One and League announced it’s set up a £50million fund to help with cash-flow problems caused by the virus.

However Robbie Cowling believes more money will be needed to help clubs outside England’s top division.

The Colchester chief told BBC Essex: “What the EFL has done is really helpful, but their hands are tied too – they are not a bottomless pit.

“To really survive and go forward there is going to be help needed from the Premier League or elsewhere.”
