Leicester bid £13.5m for Brest’s box-to-box midfielder Ibrahima Diallo to head off interest from Sevilla

LEICESTER CITY have made a £13.5million bid to sign Ibrahima Diallo from Brest, according to reports.

The Foxes could look to add a midfielder to their squad this month after the injury sustained by squad player Nampalys Mendy.

And box-to-box schemer Diallo could fit the bill.

French podcast Brest On Air claim that the Ligue 1 side are very reluctant to sell the talented French youth international.

The magnitude of the bid, however, could lead to Brest changing their minds.

The player himself is also believed to be reluctant to leave this month, fearing the potential impact on his development if he departs too early.

If his club are to receive a transformational offer, however, his hand may be forced.

The Foxes will face competition from Spanish side Sevilla, who are also interested.

Diallo, who came through the academy at Monaco, has made 21 appearances for Brest this season, making himself a regular in the French top flight.

Diminutive and good on the ball, it has come as no surprise that top sides from around Europe are monitoring the wonderkid’s progress.

Boss Brendan Rodgers had previously claimed that his side wouldn’t be entering the market for a midfielder, but things appear to have changed.

He had said: “I think we’ll be okay with that there. It would be a danger if there were any more [injuries], then we would have to look at it.

“Notoriously, I’ll always have more midfield players because of how we play, and because they can play in other positions.”
