  • THAT’S ALL FROM KING POWER

Everton picked up an important 2-0 victory over a strong Leicester side at King Power Stadium.

To recap, the Toffees opened the scoring in the 21st minute with a little unintentional help from Kasper Schmeichel.

Schmeichel failed to hold on to the ball following a beautiful shot from Richarlison.

However, the Leicester goalkeeper did his best to stop the Merseysiders from scoring another in the second half but was let down by his defence.

It was at the 72nd minute when Michael Keane picked up a header from a corner kick but was stopped by the Denmark international.

Schmeichel also blocked Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s shot but third time was the charm for Everton as Mason Holgate sent the ball to the back of the net.

Leicester almost got a penalty in the closing minutes following a clumsy challenge between Andre Gomes and Ayoze Perez but VAR overruled the decision.

Thanks for sticking by tonight and have a wonderful night

  • RODGERS ON THE PEN

Brendan Rodgers believes Leicester should have had a penalty in the second half.

Rodgers was referring to that challenge between Andre Gomes and Ayoze Perez in the Everton box.

The referee gave a penalty but his decision was overruled following a VAR evaluation.

Rodgers said: “I thought we should have had a penalty, I think it was clear within the game.

“I thought the referee made the right decision but somehow overturns it.

“We had a few other moments that were unfortunate but it’s a frustrating result for us because we felt that we could have done more and the goals were basic goals.”

  • LOT OF HAPPINESS

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti took to Twitter as well to celebrate tonight’s result.

Ancelotti is pleased with the performance but insists the Tofees have a long way to go

  • AB-SOLUTE SUCCESS

Everton star and tonight’s man of the match Abdoulaye Doucoure took to Twitter after the win at King Power Stadium.

Doucoure praised the team spirit and performance against a strong Leicester side

  • DOM-INATING

Dominic Calvert-Lewin didn’t hit the net against Leicester but that didn’t stop him from celebrating.

  • MAN OF THE MATCH?

Abdoulaye Doucoure put together an incredible performance for Everton against Leicester.

Doucoure has been stellar with his duties in midfield and defence as he was the one that combined the two areas together.

The midfielder had the highest passing accuracy (87.8 per cent) than any of his team-mates and kept the likes of Jamie Vardy and James Maddison at bay throughout the encounter.

Most impressive, though, is that he held it together despite losing Allan in midfield due to injury in the first half

  • GUARDIAN ANCEL

Carlo Ancelotti makes it four wins in four matches against Brendan Rodgers.

We mentioned how the two managers have faced off three times in the past with Ancelotti winning twice while in charge of Real Madrid when he took on Rodgers’ Liverpool in the 2014/15 Champions League.

The Everton boss also prevailed in July when the Merseysiders beat Leicester 2-1 at Goodison Park.

    The hoodoo continues for Rodgers…

  • STATS

Leicester dominated 60.8 per cent of possession but still couldn’t break Everton’s backline.

The Foxes’ 14 shots, two on target, never worried the Toffees who completed a total of 11 shots, 6 on target.

It was pretty even when it came to defence as both teams got a 50 per cent success rate in aerial duels and close to a 50/50 return on tackles.

Everton’s defensive tactics paid dividends as they closed all spaces for their opponents

  • FT: LEICESTER 0-2 EVERTON

Everton pick up an incredible win at King Power Stadium which gets them closer to the Premier League top four.

The Toffees opened the scoring after 21 minutes thanks to a gaffe by Kasper Schmeichel, who failed to hold on to the ball following Richarlison’s beautiful shot.

The Merseysiders doubled their lead in the 72nd minute with Mason Holgate who picked up the ball following two incedible saves by Schmeichel who denied Micheal Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the build-up.
