JUVENTUS have rejected a bid from Paris-Saint Germain for Paulo Dybala, according to reports.
Italian outlet Calciomercato claim that the Ligue 1 leaders were hoping to land the Argentine in the summer using any money they raise from Neymar’s exit.
Paris-Saint Germain have been linked with a stunning summer swoop for Juventus ace Paulo Dybala
Dybala came close to leaving Turin in the summer after Manchester United and Tottenham both made offers for the forward.
The Red Devils had been willing to use Romelu Lukaku as a bargaining chip to sign the 26-year-old, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side failed to strike an agreement.
Spurs were closer, as they attempted to complete the audacious swoop before August’s deadline but the move fell down over the player’s image rights.
Dybala remained in Italy under new manager Maurizio Sarri and has gone on to score seven goals and register four assists for Serie A table-toppers Juve.
Such was the dramatic turnaround in his form that Dybala was reportedly set to be offered a new £8.5million-a-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2025.
Despite that, PSG view the former Palermo ace as the man to replace Neymar should the Brazilian seal a move back to Barcelona.
Latest reports in Spain report that the Catalans plan to resign their former star by using Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele as bait.
Having a budget smaller than PSG’s valuation of Neymar – around £150million – will force the LaLiga giants to be creative in any potential deal.
Barca have a host of players they are looking to offload this summer, including Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic.
Coutinho and Dembele are two others – and they could be used in a cash-plus-players deal with PSG to get a deal over the line.
French winger Dembele cost Barcelona £138m in 2018, while former Liverpool ace Coutinho set the Spaniards back a further £145m.
Those players now are worth around £100m combined after enduring a torrid time in Spain.
