Juventus looking to give Cristiano Ronaldo new £30m-a-season deal until 2023 which would keep him there until he is 38

CRISTIANO RONALDO and Juventus are reportedly nearing an agreement on a fresh three-and-a-half-year contract.

After signing a deal until 2022 when joining the Old Lady in the summer of 2018, the winger is ready to end a difficult couple of months in Turin with a fresh commitment to the club.

Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via Daily Mail, detail talks between Ronaldo and his agent, Jorge Mendes, at the weekend’s Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai.

The deal would likely be around the same £30million-a-year wage the 34-year-old is currently on and will last to 2023 with the option of another year.

That means Ronaldo sticking around in Serie A until he is 38.

Recently he revealed when the time will come to retire from playing, and possibly venture into a career in film.

He remarked: “The moment my body is no longer responding in the right way on the field, then it would be the time to leave.”

Despite a worrying spell fighting a niggling knee injury, resulting in him going goalless for November, Ronaldo is back on form with six goals in his last six outings.

Not one for being short of confidence, the player is said to be comfortable with the prospect of maintaining his performance levels into his late-30s.

And Fabio Paratici, Juventus’ sporting director, is now preparing a contract to be signed in the spring.

The Serie A giants are back in training after a winter break, with Cagliari up next on Monday.
