JOHN TERRY last night strenuously denied incredible allegations made by Carlton Cole that he confessed to calling Anton Ferdinand a “black c***” in “a moment of madness”.
Terry, who was Chelsea captain at the time, was accused of aiming the comments at QPR defender Ferdinand during a volatile London derby at Loftus Road nine years ago.

Terry released a statement refuting claims he also denied — and was cleared of in court — at the time.
But former West Ham striker Cole, 37, yesterday reopened the wounds of the ugly incident. He claimed: “I phoned JT and said ‘Why did you do that bro? Why?’.
“And he said ‘It was a moment of madness, I don’t know why I did that’.

“I said ‘You can’t even explain yourself, so just leave it’. I thought ‘Ah JT man, what are you doing?’. I couldn’t see him in that light. But it happened.
“He admitted he done it straight away, do you know that?”
Terry’s statement said: “John Terry refutes in the strongest possible terms the allegations that are made against him by Carlton Cole.
“They are false and never happened and Mr Terry has previously been cleared of these allegations in an English court of law.
“Never before has Carlton Cole mentioned this to Mr Terry or raised any issue of this type with him, the FA or the police. The reason for that is because the words were not said.”
Terry was cleared in court of racially abusing Ferdinand but was hit with a four-game ban by the FA and fined £220,000 for using insulting words which included a reference to colour.
He was also later stripped of the England captaincy.
But in an explosive interview on StoppageTime TV, Cole made the allegation that Terry phoned him after the game.
In the interview, Cole added: “What he went and did was state the obvious and use the c-word with it.
“It surprised me because I hadn’t seen that side of him before. Guess who he phoned? I was going to meet Anton. I was actually on my way to a hotel to meet Ashley Cole, we were going to somebody’s birthday party.
“I was in a car in Mayfair and I got a phone call from JT. He said ‘Carlton, I need to get hold of Anton. Are you seeing him tonight?’.
“I said ‘Yes he’s going to the same gaff I’m going to, why what’s happened?’. I was none the wiser.

“He was calling me to get in touch with Anton so that he could apologise. I gave the number to him. I didn’t know what was going on.
“I saw Anton later and he said ‘I’m done with it, that’s bang out of order’. Anton wasn’t having it.”
Anton’s brother, Rio Ferdinand, publicly backed his younger sibling in the row.
Cole says there may have been another aspect at play in the whole saga.
He said: “I was disappointed to see Rio and JT at loggerheads.
“Rio has got to back his brother, plus they both wanted England captaincy and it was Chelsea Man United so it was bare competition.”
Cole played in the Chelsea youth ranks alongside Terry and the pair are close. Terry, 39, is now first-team coach at Aston Villa.
