Inter Milan plan to complete Christian Eriksen transfer before Sunday’s clash vs Cagliari

INTER MILAN want to complete the signing of Christian Eriksen from Tottenham before their game at Cagliari on Sunday, according to reports.

The Italian giants have been edging closer to a deal for the Dane but reportedly want to wrap up negotiations before the weekend’s game.

Inter need to up their offer to £15million to convince Spurs to sell but want to get it done before the Serie A clash, according to the Mail.

Despite the apparent imminence of the deal, Spurs boss Jose Mourinho and Inter gaffer Antonio Conte have reignited their bitter feud.

It began during the 2017/18 season when Mourinho called Conte a “clown” and said he would never be “suspended for match-fixing” in reference to the Italian’s four-month ban for failing to report alleged match rigging when manager of Juventus.

And the Special One poked the fire again with his comments about the Eriksen deal.

Conte was asked for an update by reporters last week and said: “Eriksen? We have to go to people who have already had a career, who are at the end of their contracts.”

But Mourinho was clearly not happy and when asked in England about the status of the transfer said: “I think Antonio has said publicly.

“I think we coaches should all behave in the same way in relation to transfers. I think we should always be closed, until something happens.”

Tottenham’s boss added: “So when you ask me about player A, B or C, like when I was asked about three players, how can I speak about three players that are not my players?

“I think we should always be protective. Nothing, nothing. When I see people with responsibilities, speaking about Eriksen…

“I think we shouldn’t speak about players from other clubs until they become our players.”

Mourinho’s barbed comments were relayed to Conte and he reacted in indignant fashion.

He said: “I no longer talk about the transfer market.

“The last time I did it, someone we all know twisted my words so I won’t say anything any more.

“I never said anything unusual about the January transfer market making it difficult for all coaches.

“Every time I say something, it always gets amplified or twisted.”

Inter’s CEO Giuseppe Marotta also jumped to his manager’s defence and said: “He [Eriksen] is a Tottenham player, but we know his contract expires in June.

“It’s completely legitimate and authorised by current regulations to see his agent during this time.

“But, at this point, to say that he will arrive in January or June, is a long way off because the competition is so great.

“We’re in talks with Eriksen’s agent but there are many clubs interested in him.”

Marotta also confirmed the Italian giants are also interested in Chelsea duo Olivier Giroud and Victor Moses – who is currently at Fenerbahce on loan.
