THAT’S ALL FROM THE SAN SIRO!
We all expected a thrilling encounter from a game that had some extremely high stakes in the Champions League.
But Inter Milan and Shakhtar Donetsk failed to deliver as they drew 0-0 at the San Siro.
Not much to tell when it comes to the action on the pitch other than Lautaro Martinez’s shot in the opening minutes which rattled the bar.
Inter had more chances and dominated possession but that didn’t save them from their first ever elimination from the Champions League group.
Shakhtar, though, are all smiles as they continue in the Europa League following an impressive campaign that saw them beating Real Madrid twice.
Goodnight.

VAR COMMENT
Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte criticised both the referees and VAR following his team’s Champions League elimination.
Conte claimed that the refs never respected Inter and believes the Nerazzurri were unlucky when it came to VAR.
The ex-Chelsea boss said: “I think that in this whole Champions League we have not been lucky with the referees and with the VAR.
“Now that we are out I feel I have to say this. that Inter have not been respected, if you go back to see the situations that have happened that have not been seen or evaluated.
“We could have spent the round scoring a goal, if you don’t score you don’t win the games. “
CONTE REACTION
Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte insists his team didn’t lack passion despite getting knocked out of the Champions League.
Conte added that Shakhtar Donetsk’s teenage goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin was the Ukrainian’s best player in both legs.
The ex-Chelsea manager said: “In two matches with Shakhtar their goalkeeper is the best player on the field, we break the posts, crossbars, we have a lot of situations, we don’t score any goals.
“I do not agree that we lacked aggression, malice, determination. We missed a goal.”

TRACK RECORD
Inter Milan completed a very disappointing Champions League campaign, which saw them losing twice to Real Madrid and barely managing to beat Borussia Monchengladbach.
They had two goalless draws against Shakhtar Donetsk along with a 2-2 tie against Gladbach.
Antonio Conte’s men scored a mere seven goals in six matches but conceded a whopping nine.

EUR THROUGH!
All smiles at Shakhtar Donetsk even though they were eliminated from the Champions League.
Shakhtar finished third and have thus advanced to the Europe League a year after making the competition’s semi-finals.
Quite bizarre considering that the Ukrainians defeated Real Madrid not once but twice… And Real finished top of the group!
STATS
Inter Milan had 53.4 per cent of possession and had 16 shots compared to Shakhtar Donetsk’s seven.
However, both sides had three shots on target, something which shows how even the game actually was despite Inter looking more of a threat.
Passing accuracy is another indication of how this score may be fair as Inter completed 85.8 per cent of their passes whereas Shakhtar enjoyed a ratio of 83.3 per cent.
The visitors were more clinical in defence as they had an 80 per cent success rate when it came to tackling compared to the Nerazurri’s 33.3.
DARK MOMENT
This is a bad night for Inter Milan as it marks the first time ever that the Nerazzurri finish last in the Champions League group stage.
Inter have been hapless throughout the competition suffering two losses and only managing one win despite the immense quality they possess within their ranks.
Antonio Conte will now be focusing on the Serie A where his team is second
FT: INTER MILAN 0-0 SHAKHTAR DONETSK
