How Man Utd loan players are doing this season with Diogo Dalot scoring wondergoals for AC Milan and Chong in Germany

NOT all stars immediately shine at the Theatre of Dreams.

Some players get a taste of life in the Manchester United first-team, before being forced to go back to the drawing board.

The Red Devils currently have four players out on loan, battling to earn their way back into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans… or just to get a good move at the end of the season.

Here, we discover how United’s loan stars are getting on elsewhere so far this season.

Diogo Dalot joined AC Milan on a season-long loan on October 4 following the realisation that he would likely be Manchester United’s third-choice right-back this season.

The Portuguese grabbed headlines with his Europa League performance against Sparta Prague, in which he scored a wondergoal, as well as laying on a smart assist.

But the 21-year-old has been limited almost exclusively to European football this season.

Despite his impressive exploits against the Czech side, Davide Calabria has been preferred in Serie A.

In fact, Dalot has played just 19 minutes of league football this season.

But despite this, Tuttosport claim that the Italian giants want to make the move permanent, despite having no option to buy clause in the loan deal.

TAHITH CHONG – WERDER BREMEN

Tahith Chong has made 16 senior appearances for Manchester United, but has so far struggled to impose himself on the Red Devils first-team.

A season in Germany has been deemed just the remedy, having worked for Premier League academy starlets like Jadon Sancho, Jamal Musiala and Reiss Nelson.

Some fans may so far remember him best for his horror miss against Astana last season.

But he is gradually gaining experience in a fairly poor Werder Bremen side.

Having started the opening day 4-1 defeat to Hertha Berlin, he has since been predominantly limited to a place on the bench.

He may have turned the corner, however, coming on to win a penalty against Koln and helping his side snatch a 1-1 draw last time out.

Chong also managed a goal against lower-league opponents Carl Zeiss Jena in the DFB Pokal.

ANDREAS PEREIRA – LAZIO

Andreas Pereira, 24, has made 75 first-team appearances for Manchester United, in addition to being a full Brazil international.

But he was deemed surplus to requirements having fallen way down the pecking order after the arrivals of Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek.

His progress at Lazio has so far been hampered by a fever suffered earlier this season.

And he is yet to play longer than 45 minutes in a game since arriving in Italy.

He did open the scoring in his team’s 4-3 win over Torino, however.

And he has made two substitute appearances in the Champions League.

JOEL PEREIRA

At this stage, it seems almost unfathomable how Joel Pereira, 24, has made three first-team appearances for the Red Devils.

The Portuguese ‘stopper’ had a disastrous loan spell at Hearts last season, frequently making errors as his side were relegated from the Scottish Premiership.

He has fallen way down the pecking order at Old Trafford, particularly with Dean Henderson’s return.

Pereira is now on a season-long loan at Huddersfield Town.

But he finds himself as backup to No1 Ben Hamer.

And he didn’t even get a run-out in place Hamer in the EFL Cup defeat to Rochdale.
