How Man Utd could line up vs Luton with Greenwood and Van de Beek in starting XI as Solskjaer confirms changes

DONNY VAN DE BEEK is set to be handed his first Manchester United start after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed changes against Luton.

The Norwegian boss is ready to mix it up against the Championship side following their dreadful 3-1 home defeat by Crystal Palace.

And he is likely to give a number of fringe players an opportunity to impress in tomorrow’s Carabao Cup third round clash.

After a lack of pre-season, it will also allow certain players to get valuable minutes under their belts.

Solskjaer told United’s official site: “We’ll make some changes. Of course we will.

“For some, it’s the pre-season and, for some, they’ve only been here for a week now, for different reasons.

“Some of them need game-time, they do and we can see we’re lacking in sharpness.

“We just need to make the most of the training sessions and games we have.”

Van De Beek was introduced in the final 23 minutes against Palace and scored 13 minutes later.

Youngster Mason Greenwood is also set to start after he was left out of the starting XI against the Eagles.

The forward endured a summer of shame after being booted off international duty after breaking Covid-19 rules by inviting Icelandic girls to his hotel room.

Dean Henderson, who returned from his loan spell at Sheffield United, is likely to make his highly-anticipated club debut.

Eric Bailly should get minutes at the back alongside talented left-back Brandon Williams.

Fringe players Fred, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Odion Ighalo could also earn spots in the starting XI.

Nemanja Matic is in contention but will face a late fitness test.
