How David Beckham’s Inter Miami could line-up next season with Daniel Sturridge as main striker on debut MLS season

DANIEL STURRIDGE is the latest big name to be linked with a move to David Beckham’s Inter Miami.

The former Manchester United star was overseeing his debut season as an MLS owner before the coronavirus pandemic meant the campaign was postponed.

It hadn’t got off to a flier however, with the side managed by Diego Alonso defeated in their opening two games.

The biggest name to sign for the franchise so far is Honduras international Roman Torres, who played against England in the last World Cup.

But next season there could be a clutch of far bigger names linking up.

The latest of these is Sturridge.

Goal claims the former Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City star could be heading across the Atlantic to Major League Soccer once his four-month betting ban ends in June.

BETTING BAN ENDS IN JUNE

Sturridge, 30, was banned from all football-related activities in March after he was found guilty of two breaches over transfer information given to family members.

An independent appeal board later whacked up the ban and doubled an initial fine to £150,000.

Sturridge then saw his contract with Turkish side Trabzonspor terminated “by mutual consent.”

But he will soon be free to join a new club.

Another big name linked is Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez.

HART TO LINK UP WITH BECKS?

According to Goal, the Miami chief has contacted Madrid president Florentino Perez to discuss the possibility of signing Rodriguez.

Beckham has a good relationship with Perez, the man who brought the ex-England captain to the Spanish capital from Manchester United in 2003.

And Madrid are said to be willing to sell Rodriquez as his contract expires next summer, meaning he is free to negotiate with clubs in January.

Manchester City midfielder David Silva is another linked with Beckham’s US revolution.

He is expected to agree a new one-year deal with Manchester City but could move over the water at the end of that.

Joe Hart, who of course played with Beckham with England, could take over between the sticks next season and resurrect his career.

Other names to be linked include Luis Suarez, Cesc Fabregas, Edinson Cavani and Arturo Vidal,
