Palace, who are 14th in the Premier League, missed out on two potential signings in.

And they have only spent £5m on new recruits in three windows.

Hodgson said: “The club have presented me with a contract, which I got just before we went away last week.

“If I’m going to stay it’s because I believe the funds will be made available.

“And we realise, Steve Parish, I and the American owners, you cannot make those improvements to your team without spending.

“We want to show the fans we’re moving forward and bringing in fresh blood.”

Meanwhile, Palace’s opponents today Newcastle could switch up their attack.

Joelinton is facing the axe by boss Steve Bruce after a 23-game goal drought.

That means Dwight Gayle could be ready to lead the line against his former club.
