Harry Kane’s ‘trademark collision’ is ‘just part of football’ says Cahill amid fears he could ‘seriously injure someone’

HARRY KANE’S dangerous looking ‘trademark collision’ is just part of football, according to Crystal Palace centre-back Gary Cahill.

Tottenham striker Kane has been criticised for backing into defenders as they are jumping for headers causing them to spin in midair and land awkwardly.

Kane’s most recent incident was in the North London derby when he backed into Gabriel as he was in midair.

The England ace has been caught on three occasions colliding with players in the air this season.

The first was on Aaron Cresswell when Spurs collapsed to draw 3-3 at home to West Ham, before doing the same move on Brighton’s Adam Lallana.

Former Everton and Wales star Kevin Ratcliffe tweeted during the North London derby: “Dangerous from Harry Kane (again) leans into players when they’re in the air!

“He needs to stop this before he seriously injures someone.”

But Palace defender Cahill – who will face up against Kane on Sunday as his side host Spurs – cannot see a problem.

He told SkySports: “I think that’s just part of football.

“I think an element of that is being clever and experienced and knowing when you can maybe draw a foul in.

He also did the same to Gabriel in the North London derby

“I’ve seen it numerous times when I was with England and training with Harry, that he just uses his body well.

“I think (Heung-Min) Son does the same – they use their body very well.

“They put their body in between the ball and yourself and any sort of contact, they know that potentially there could be fouls and in and around the box is dangerous.

“I study the opposition but I would say also you know the opposition, with players like that, you’ve seen them year after year so you know their strengths and it’s just how best you can deal with them on the day.”
