Harry Kane admits he’s ‘ambitious’ and won’t stay at Tottenham for ‘sake of it’

HARRY KANE has dealt Spurs a hammer blow by admitting he’s “ambitious” and won’t hang around at the club “for the sake of it.”

The England captain, 26, has been at Tottenham since 2004 and is already their third-highest goalscorer in history.

But Kane insists sentiment alone will not hold him back from becoming one of the world’s “best” players.

Kane said: “I love Spurs, I’ll always love Spurs.

“But I’ve always said, if I don’t feel we’re going in the right direction then I’m not someone who will just stay for the sake of it.

“I’m an ambitious player, I want to become one of the best players.”

Kane’s revelation is sure to alert potential suitors this summer, with Manchester United and Real Madrid both reportedly interested.

And Spurs boss Jose Mourinho may now need to convince Kane of his transfer plans for next season if he wants to keep the striker in the capital.

Kane has already become a legend at Tottenham, having scored 181 goals in just 278 games.

He also has 32 goals in 45 games for England.

But despite his impressive individual record, Kane is yet to lift a piece of silverware in his professional career.

The hitman turns 27 in July, and it remains to be seen how many more birthdays Kane has in north London.
