FORMER Liverpool midfielder Bruno Cheyrou is the talk of Twitter after he bizarrely started trending on the social media platform.
The 41-year-old has left fans baffled with the ex-French international trending for no apparent reason, with the Reds flop’s last game in the Premier League coming 16 years ago.

Cheyrou joined Liverpool in 2002 from Lille, with Gerard Houlier dubbing the player as the “new Zinedine Zidane”, but he ultimately failed to live up to the hype.
After banging in 15 goals in his last season for the Ligue 1 side before departing for Merseyside, Cheyrou scored just once in the 2002/03 campaign.
He was also left out of the matchday squad in the victorious League Cup final win against Manchester United.
The 2003/04 season proved to be Cheyrou’s last in England, with the player finding the back of the net four times in 19 games.
Rafa Benitez deemed Cheyrou as surplus to requirements when he arrived in 2004, with the midfielder shipped off on loan to Marseille and Bordeaux before eventually joining Rennes in a permanent deal in 2006.
STORM BRU-ING
Cheyrou – who has only won the Ligue 2 title during his career – is the current Paris Saint-Germain Women’s Team Sporting Director.
Therefore it came as a surprise to fans as to why the former player found himself to be trending in the United Kingdom.
One supporter tweeted: “Bruno Cheyrou trending because people are tweeting asking why Bruno Cheyrou is trending is exactly the content I rejoined twitter for.”
Another commented: “Bruno Cheyrou trending because people are asking why Bruno Cheyrou is trending is peak Twitter.”
The GFFN account said: “PSG’s Women’s Team Sporting Director Bruno Cheyrou is currently trending in the United Kingdom because people don’t understand why he’s trending. In these quarantine times, guess this is the new normal!”
