FIFA have brought in emergency measures which mean players out of contract will have to stay at their clubs until the end of the season – whenever that may be.
This means that a star such as Chelsea’s Willian – out of contract in June and linked to Bayern Munich – will have to stay with the club if the campaign continues into July and beyond.

The Times report that world football’s governing body’s plan is in response to the coronavirus pandemic totally decimating the entire sporting calendar.
The Premier League was hopeful of returning on April 30 but that is virtually nailed on not to happen with the killer bug continuing to take lives.
Fifa’s new rules are reportedly set to impact transfers that have already been agreed.
So that presumably includes deals such as Ajax midfielder Hakim Ziyech’s move to Stamford Bridge.

New contracts will be delayed until the new season is underway.
Even if a player wants to move, the Fifa working party says that “priority must be given to the former club to complete their season with their original squad”.
This applies to loan deals too.
The Fifa document reads: “This is an unprecedented time for football.
“It is very likely that any such completion will occur after the original end date of the season.
“Article 27 of the Regulations on the status and transfer of players (RSTP) states that cases of force majeure shall be decided by the Fifa council, whose decisions are final.”
Force majeure is French for ‘superior force’ and is basically a clause in a contract that excuses one party from fulfilling its obligations in light of circumstances totally beyond their control.
The proposals, discussed by Fifa top brass today, also recommend that clubs defer or reduces wages of players and staff.
