Fans fuming as desperate Man Utd offer Ashley Young new deal and spark transfer war with Inter Milan

MANCHESTER UNITED fans are fuming with the club for offering 34-year-old Ashley Young a new one-year deal.

The Old Trafford star has been the subject of keen interest from Italian side Inter Milan.

But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to keep the ageing full-back and now offered him an extension, sparking fury from a number of supporters.

In relation to a tweet about the new offer, one social media user wrote: “How the mighty have fallen…”

Another posted: “The more Man U fans want to escape the more the owners give them pain.”

A fellow user said: “This Ole and Co are really taking us for granted. You can’t be renewing Ashley’s contract while there are real loopholes to cover… it’s getting out of hand.”

One comment read simply: “What the f***?”

Another said: “Why, just why would you do that? He is part of the dead wood that they need clearing out.

“This is just another example of how clueless the club is and how out of their depth the management are from boardroom to dugout. They are a laughing stock.”

One user wrote: “Talk about building for the future. Ole is a bum. I’m done with this club.”

A fellow user said: “That’s it guys, it’s over, we are done now.”

Another supporter posted: “This club is a disgrace.”

SunSport told you last night how United are desperate for Young to agree a new contract.

England star Young is able to talk to clubs this month and sign a pre-contract agreement committing himself to a new club while playing out the remainder of the current campaign for United.

The prospect of seeing their captain and major dressing room influence striking a deal to leave mid-season has sent ripples of worry through the United boardroom.

The United hierarchy is already facing criticism over the way it is running the football operation at Old Trafford with the side struggling to secure a top-four finish this season.

And they know it will not look good for such a senior player to commit to moving on at a time when he is so valued by the management.
