FA Cup new dates: When will the quarter-finals be held, and will final still be at Wembley?


THE world’s oldest club competition is back.

After the Premier League announced its intention to restart the season on June 17, the FA hsa published preliminary dates for the FA Cup.

Man City are the current holders of the prestigious competition and the final was originally scheduled for May 23 at Wembley.

When will FA Cup quarter finals be held?

There are still eight teams remaining in this year’s competition, which the FA hopes can be completed despite a congested fixture list over the summer.

FA chief executive Mark Bellingham said: “The health and wellbeing of players, staff and supporters remains our priority.

“The competition has been an integral part of the English football calendar for nearly 150 years, and we would like to thank the Premier League executive and clubs for their support in scheduling the remaining matches during this unprecedented time.”

And he added that the competition would only take place if “all safety measures [were] met”.

The quarter-final ties are scheduled to take place over the weekend June 27-28.

The ties are as follows, with kick-off times and exact dates still subject to change:

  • Leicester City vs Chelsea
  • Newcastle United vs Manchester City
  • Sheffield United vs Arsenal
  • Norwich City vs Manchester United

When is the FA Cup final and will it be at Wembley?

Following on from the last-eight, the semi-finals are pencilled in for July 18-19.

The remaining two sides will then go head-to-head for the FA Cup on Saturday, August 1.

Every game of the competition will be behind closed doors, with no fans in attendance.

It has not yet been confirmed whether the semis and final will be played at Wembley, as is customary.

The FA said in a statement: “Further information on venues and timings will be announced in due course.”
