FORMER Premier League star Charlie Adam has paid tribute to his mum after she sadly lost her short battle with cancer.
The ex-Liverpool ace received the devastating news just three months ago that his mum, Ellie, had been diagnosed with bowel and liver cancer.

And just days after the midfielder scored in Dundee’s 3-3 draw with Dunfermline, Adam has paid tribute to his mum who passed away days before Christmas.
The 35-year-old posted on Twitter: “Sadly 3 months ago mum was diagnosed with Bowel and liver cancer.
“After being taken into hospital 10 days ago mum passed away peacefully at home. RIP mum you were an incredible woman and I am going to miss you so much.”
One fan replied: “Sorry to hear Charlie thinking of you and your family pal.”
Another said: “Very sorry to hear this. Similar story for my mum many years ago. A particularly hard time of year. Condolences and best wishes.”
Danny Higginbotham added: “So sorry for your loss mate. Thoughts with you and the family.”
Adam’s former club Blackpool commented: “Our thoughts are with you, Charlie. We send our heartfelt condolences.”
And Dundee’s Twitter account shared the post with a blue heart emoji.
After returning north of the border in September to join his boyhood heroes, Adam confirmed the news of his mum’s diagnosis as he revealed the reasoning behind his move.
He said: “Personal circumstances changed in the last week, so that was a big factor as well.
“I’ve got an issue with my mum. She got some bad news in the last week that she’s got cancer and obviously we’ve got to deal with that.
“That’s the realisation of where I am in my life and my career.
“I want to play and enjoy football. I’ve played but not with excitement.
“I’m delighted that I’m here. I was travelling a lot last year, my family was at home and it just never felt right. This feels right.”
