Everton’s Allan transfer confirmed by Napoli with midfielder to reunite with Ancelotti in £25m switch

EVERTON moved a step closer to the £25million capture of Brazilian midfielder Allan after Napoli confirmed a deal was imminent.

Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti had been desperate to reunite with the 29-year-old as he bids to strengthen his midfield.

The Italian was snubbed in his bid to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after the Dane made it clear he wanted to join Tottenham from Southampton.

Yet Ancelotti has had better luck negotiating with his former club Napoli for Allan.

According to the BBC, Everton were able to get the deal over the line after the Serie A giants dropped their asking price from £40m to £25m.

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis confirmed: “Allan is joining Everton. The deal will be announced soon.”

SunSport previously reported that Allan rejected moves to Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund to join Everton.

He has played for Napoli since 2015, where he has 11 goals in 127 league starts.

Allan worked with Ancelotti for just over a year at Napoli before the Italian quit to take up the position at Everton last season.

The Brazilian featured in Napoli’s 2-0 Champions League group stage win over the Toffees’ rivals Liverpool last season.

Allan made 33 appearances in all competitions last season, helping them finish seventh.

Meanwhile, Ancelotti is also looking to finalise a deal for another former player in James Rodriguez.

The Colombia international featured under the ex-Chelsea boss at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

He has just one year left on his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu but Everton are hoping to bring the 29-year-old on an initial loan deal.
