England star Harry Kane has ‘no chance’ of making Euro 2020 if hamstring injury is same as mine, claims Michael Owen

MICHAEL OWEN has increased fears that Harry Kane won’t be fit for the European Championships in the summer.

The Tottenham striker has been sidelined with a torn hamstring he suffered in the New Year’s Day defeat against Southampton.

He has since gone under the knife and is now facing a race against time to be fit for the Three Lions’ Euro opener against Croatia on June 14.

Tottenham suggested that Kane will be out until at least April but boss Jose Mourinho has already hinted the star’s recovery could take longer than expected.

He said: “We expect him to be out until mid-April, end of April, May, even next season I don’t know.”

And those thoughts are echoed by Owen who battled an injury-plagued time towards the end of his career.

The former Liverpool and Newcastle forward suggested that if Kane’s injury was a full rupture, then he will be sidelined for longer.

Speaking on BBC 5Live, he said: “I’m nervous about saying what he’s got and comparing my injury to his.

“I’ve read that he ruptured his hamstring at the tendon. That’s exactly what I did. If it’s the case that he did what I did, there is no chance he’ll be back for April.

“IF he has the same injury as me… I’ve read reports he’ll be back for April… he’d have to be a miracle man if that’s the case.

“I remember thinking, ‘If I push on it’s going to pop again’. It’s a dangerous one to push. I do fear for him, I must admit.”
