ENGLAND defender Kieran Trippier faces a lengthy ban if he is found guilty of breaking betting rules.
The right-back has been charged with breaches of strict FA rules during July 2018, the same month he moved from Tottenham to Atletico Madrid.

And part of the investigation has focused on bets placed ahead of Trippier’s £20m move to the Spanish capital.
Trippier, 29, has until May 18 to respond, but could also face a big fine and long suspension.
Former England striker Daniel Sturridge was hit with a four-month worldwide suspension after being found guilty of breaking betting rules.
I want to make it clear that while a professional footballer, I have at no stage placed any football related bets or received any financial benefit from others betting.

An FA statement read: “Kieran Trippier has been charged with misconduct in relation to alleged breaches of the FA’s betting rules.
“A participant shall not bet, either directly or indirectly, or instruct, permit, cause or enable any person to bet on – (i) the result, progress, conduct or any other aspect of, or occurrence in or in connection with, a football match or competition;
“or (ii) any other matter concerning or related to football anywhere in the world, including, for example and without limitation, the transfer of players, employment of managers, team selection or disciplinary matters.”
This means, for example, that a player must not even pass information to friends – who are likely to bet – if he is going to move to another club.
In a statement, Trippier said: “I have fully complied with the FA’s investigation over the past several months on a voluntary basis and will continue to do so.
“I want to make it clear that while a professional footballer, I have at no stage placed any football related bets or received any financial benefit from others betting.”
Former England striker Sturridge had faced various charges alleging he passed on inside information over a potential transfer in January 2018.
The commission found he had instructed his brother Leon to bet on a possible move to Spanish side Sevilla, and that he had given him inside information during the January 2018 transfer window.
He was originally given a six-week ban last summer, four of them suspended, but the FA appealed against the findings of an independent commission. As well as increasing his suspension to four months, an appeal board also doubled the 30-year-old’s fine to £150,000.
