David Beckham’s Inter Miami sign Robbie Robinson with first pick of MLS Super Draft

DAVID BECKHAM’S Inter Miami have snapped up hot prospect college player Robbie Robinson in the MLS Super Draft.

The franchise will be playing their debut season in the MLS and Uruguayan head coach Diego Alonso has been busy constructing a squad.

And 21-year-old Robinson is the team’s select from the college system.

Clemson junior forward Robinson won the Hermann Trophy as the top college soccer player.

Presented Friday night by the Missouri Athletic Club, the awards were determined by voting by NCAA Division I coaches.

Robinson led the nation in points with 45 and tied for the lead in goals with 18 in just 19 games.

He also featured for Charleston Battery, playing two minutes in their 3-2 US Open Cup lose to Atlanta United.

BALE TO JOIN NEXT?

Other players of note brought in by Miami are Julian Carranza, signed for around £5m from Argentinian outfit Banfield.

Countryman Matias Pellegrini has also joined Team Beckham, from Estudiantes for a fee that could rise as high as £8m.

But the biggest signing could be yet to come.

Spanish newspaper El Desmarque say Miami are in pole position to sign Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.

The 30-year-old has battled back into the Real team this season despite his shaky relationship with returning boss Zinedine Zidane.

Bale almost joined Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning over the summer on wages above more than £1million a week.

Eldesmarque even claim the size of Bale’s transfer fee is the only remaining hurdle to a switch across the pond.

And despite an erratic fitness record, he still has huge admirers in the Premier League.
