CRISTIANO RONALDO has sensationally revealed that as a child he thought he’d be a poor fisherman by the age of 35.
Instead, the Portuguese superstar, who reached the landmark birthday this week, has become one of the greatest footballers of all time and is targeting a SIXTH Champions League title.
Cristiano Ronaldo has reflected on his astonishing career achievements after turning 35 this week
Ronaldo is currently on £500,000-a-week wages at Juventus and has rich contracts with Armani, KFC, Herbalife, as well as his own range of CR7 clothes, shoes and underwear.
Meanwhile, his lifetime contract with the sportswear manufacturers Nike, which began in 2003, is worth an astonishing £1billion in itself.
But the forward grew up in a poor family in Madeira and revealed in an interview with Piers Morgan last year that he used to beg for burgers as as a kid at Sporting Lisbon.
His humble childhood meant Ronaldo told Portugual’s Canal 11: “When I was little I thought that at 35 I would be fishing in Madeira.
“But it was not cane, which costs a lot, it was thread on the finger. It never crossed my mind to play where I played and win what I won.”

Since breaking through at Sporting Lisbon, Ronaldo has become the first footballer to win top-flight titles in England, Spain and Italy.
The five-time World Player of the Year has celebrated European Championship and Nations League glory with his country.
He is also the most followed person on Instagram with 200 million fans, earning an eyewatering £780k per post, more than any other user.
Yet it is the Champions League where Ronaldo has truly become synonymous, topping the competitions scoring charts six times in a row.
And he revealed that he wants to make it six times in lifting the famous trophy following successes with Manchester United and Real Madrid.
He added: “To play at Juventus gives me the chance to win it again.
“We know it’s difficult, it depends on many factors, but it’s possible because we have a good team.
“We must take one step at a time going forward.”
