Cristiano Ronaldo marks 100th Juventus game with two goals in away win at Genoa and targets century of goals next

CRISTIANO RONALDO marked his 100th Juventus game with two goals away at Genoa – and he wants to complete a century of strikes next.

After the match, he tweeted: “What better way to celebrate my 100th game for Juventus, than scoring two more goals for the team?

“I’m very proud of reaching this number with the Vecchia Signora jersey, but guess what: I also have my mind already set on the 100 goals for Juve.”

The Portugal captain is just 21 goals away from the landmark achievement, which he managed at Manchester United, scoring 118 times.

But at Real Madrid, Ronaldo netted 450 times in 438 games, to become the club’s record scorer.

This season, the 35-year-old has ten goals, as many as the entire Genoa team.

Juve, chasing a 10th successive Serie A title, are fourth with 23 points from 11 games and still unbeaten.

Genoa, who narrowly escaped the drop last season, are one off the bottom with six points.

Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo said: “We had to put the Barcelona game out of our minds.

“We knew we were up against a team that wanted to close ranks, so we had to be patient.

“The most important thing was our attitude — we couldn’t wait for them to play but we had to attack them.”

It Juve 57 minutes to break through when Weston McKennie flicked the ball to Paulo Dybala and the Argentine beat Mattia Perin with a shot inside the near post for his first league goal of the season.

Genoa replied out of the blue four minutes later, as Stefano Sturaro side-footed past Wojciech Szczesny from Luca Pellegrini’s cross to score against his old club.

Dybala had a goal disallowed for offside and Ronaldo sent a free header straight at Perin before Juve eventually wore Genoa down.

With 12 minutes left, Juan Cuadrado won a penalty after a clumsy Nicolo Rovella tackle which allowed Ronaldo to fire the Italian kings ahead from the spot.

Perin then upended Alvaro Morata after Genoa gave the ball away in defence and as Ronaldo duly blasted the ball into the roof of the net.
