He has his family with him on the top two floors of a seven-storey house he purchased recently in Funchal.

And he is now on course to stay at home for the foreseeable future with Italy continuing to struggle to contain the killer bug.

Ronaldo’s Juventus team-mate Daniele Rugani was the first Serie A to catch the virus.

Rugani most-recently played in the 2-1 win over SPAL on February 22.

But he tweeted a picture of himself celebrating with the whole Juve squad after the 2-0 win over Inter Milan on Sunday.

Paulo Dybala reportedly contracted coronavirus, too, but Juve denied those claims.

The Serie A side has confirmed it is “activating all the isolation procedures required by law, including those who have had contact with him.”

Now 121 Juventus players and staff have gone into self-isolation in an attempt to reduce the risk of spreading the virus within the club and beyond any more.

Rumours circulated that Ronaldo had caught the disease.

But the President of the Madeira regional government Miguel Albuquerque confirmed that is not the case.

He said: “I cannot speak of this issue for data protection reasons, but I want to say that the situation has been properly analysed and it is, at this time, guaranteed that there is no possibility of infection.”

Regional health secretary Pedro Ramos confirmed: “Both the athlete and his family are asymptomatic.”

Ronaldo had previously travelled back to Madeira to visit his mother Dolores Aveiro who suffered a stroke earlier in March.

Cristiano’s three siblings are all in Madeira at the moment, after his sister Katia flew back to Portugal from Brazil last week to be by her mum’s side.

All sporting events in Italy have been cancelled until at least April 3 with the country on lockdown – including Juventus’ Champions League second leg against Lyon which was due to take place next Tuesday.

Last night it emerged Chelsea football star Callum Hudson-Odoi has tested positive for coronavirus – but the winger insists he has recovered.

The entire Blues first-team, coaches and support staff will now self-isolate, putting Saturday’s match with Aston Villa in serious doubt.

The news comes hours after Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta revealed he had also tested positive for the deadly virus.

SunSport also revealed how Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy has been tested after a close family member fell ill at his home.

Watford and Leicester – who were due to play each other this weekend – but that game is not expected to go ahead with both sides having three players self-isolated after displaying symptoms of the infection.
