Cristiano Ronaldo equals Juventus legend David Trezeguet’s scoring record as star also brings up 50 goals for club

CRISTIANO RONALDO  has hit yet another milestone stretching his goal-scoring streak to nine successive Serie A games.

He becomes the first man to do so at the club since David Trezeguet in 2005.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner converted two penalties in a 3-0 win over Fiorentina to reach the record.

Ronaldo struck from the spot in each half of the match, which also took his total Juve tally up to 50 goals.

The Portugal international is now just two away from the Seria A record held by former Fiorentina striker Gabriel Batistuta, who struck in 11 straight games in 1994.

Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri spoke on his star man after the game, saying: ”Ronaldo keeps on scoring and that is good for his state of mind.

”He’s in great physical shape and is making the difference. The other forwards also did well and the problem is who to leave out.”

Ronaldo, 34, joined Juve in 2018, but has netted his half century in 70 games.

Sarri’s men cement their place at the top of the table.

Ronaldo is the second-highest scorer in the Italian top flight this season, behind Lazio’s Ciro Immobile, and has two assists so far in the league.

Ronaldo took to his Twitter account to post this message after reaching the 50 goals.

He added the caption: ”Good to get back to victories and happy to score again in our stadium. Proud to reach 50 goals with the bianconeri shirt.”

The star will look to build on his frequent scoring, as his side travel to Hellas Verona on Saturday.

He will also have their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie with Lyon  in the forefront of his mind, taking place February 26.
