Conte rages at referee after late Martinez red card as Inter’s title hopes dealt huge blow in Cagliari draw

ANTONIO CONTE was left seething after Inter Milan threw away two points and had a man sent off in a 1-1 draw with Cagliari.

Not only did former player Radja Nainggolan come back to haunt the title challengers, Inter had Lautaro Martinez dismissed in the final minute.

A long ball forward in injury time saw the striker go up for a header and crash back down to earth without winning a foul.

That sent him into a furious tirade against the official to earn his dismissal for dissent.

Gianluca Manganiello initially pulled out a yellow card for Martinez but that quickly turned into a red as he flew off the handle in the referee’s face.

From the touchline, Inter boss Conte looked on disappointed but calm at first before hounding the official after the final whistle.

Boos rang around Stadio Giuseppe Meazza as the home team coaching staff made their feelings known.

Substitute goalkeeper Tommaso Berni was first to Manganiello and was also handed a red card for his comments despite not even playing.

Martinez appeared to kick a bottle and lash out at the dugout wall as he exited the pitch.

It was the Argentine who had put Inter in front on Sunday, the Nerazzurri attempting to cut Juventus’ four-point lead atop Serie A.

New signing Ashley Young’s cross looped to the far post where Martinez notched his 17th goal of the season.

But Nainggolan snatched a leveller on 78 minutes when the midfielder on loan at Cagliari from Inter hit an optimistic effort from range.

The daisycutter took a massive deflection and rolled in off the post.

Inter’s attempts to steal the points came to nothing and frustrations boiled over in stoppage time with the Milan club now at risk of being dropped to third place by the in-form Lazio.
