But according to reporter Guillem Balague, Chelsea have also set their sights on 27-year-old full-back Alaba – who has played in Bayern’s midfield as well as at centre-back.
It is understood Stamford Bridge boss Frank Lampard is interested in Alaba’s versatility and experience across the backline.
Balague said on his YouTube channel: “There’s another player that if available, if not wanted by others, if he doesn’t go anywhere else, Chelsea would like. And that’s Alaba.
“He’s been approached by other clubs, yes, but Chelsea will be interested in Alaba and I think that his versatility will really work in favour of Frank Lampard.
“He can play as you know in the midfield, in the full-back position as well of course, that’s where he’s very well known as, but Pep Guardiola made him much more than just a full-back.
“It will be interesting to see him in the Premier League. That’s certainly one to keep an eye on.”
Alaba’s Bayern contract expires next summer, leading to speculation he will leave the German champions, who are keen to cash in on the Austrian instead of lose him on a free.
Serie A kings Juventus have also been linked with left-back, but face competition from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City.
City boss Pep Guardiola worked with Alaba at Bayern, and introduced him into a midfield role.
Alaba has made 28 appearances this season, mostly at centre-back, giving way to new Bayern left-back Alphonso Davies.
