Cesc Fabregas says Kylian Mbappe would fit in better at Real Madrid than Barcelona as he talks up transfer for PSG ace

CESC FABREGAS says Kylian Mbappe would fit in better at Real Madrid than Barcelona as he talks up a transfer for PSG ace.

The 21-year-old World Cup winner has long-been linked with a move to the Bernabeu and was expected to make the switch this summer before the coronavirus crisis derailed the mega move.

The PSG marskman has a deal in the French capital until 2022 and is believed to have recently been offered a staggering £600,000-a-week contract to remain with the Ligue 1 champions.

But reports on Tuesday have claimed that the Les Bleus ace will only pen a new deal should a clause be inserted allowing him to move to Madrid if Real match PSG’s asking price.

The hotshot’s move to Los Blancos was said to be “almost done” before the coronavirus pandemic – but it is understood that Madrid won’t make a move until next year as they anticipate a financial hit from the killer virus.

Former Barca, Arsenal and Chelsea ace Fabregas has risked the wrath of Nou Camp fans by claiming that Mbappe would fit in perfectly with his old club’s rivals in the Spanish capital.

He told Estudio Estadio: “I, who look at him [Mbappe] as a midfielder, consider him to be one of the strikers I would like to play with. He goes well into space, he has brutal timing. He has a definition, he is hungry.

“He is a boy who wants to be the best. Seeing him play is delightful and he would fit really well at Real Madrid. In Barcelona too, but I think especially in Madrid.”

Boss Zinedine Zidane is thought to be focusing his attention on 17-year-old Eduardo Camavinga – with the youngster a top priority as the Spanish outfit look to sign a defensive midfielder.

Zizou will also need cash to land 19-year-old prodigy Erling Haaland – who has a £63m release at Borussia Dortmund.

Los Blancos are set for a mass exodus in the summer to make way for their summer targets.

Fabregas – who came through the ranks at Barca’s academy, La Masia – previously snubbed Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as his top transfer if he was a manager.

The Monaco midfielder admitted that if money was no object he would sign Mbappe as he feels the wonderkid is the new Thierry Henry.

The Frenchman moved from Monaco to Parc des Princes in 2018 and has scored 90 goals in 138 appearances since.

He is so valuable to the Ligue 1 side that it has even been suggested they would rather the World Cup winner rot on the bench for the next two seasons than to sell him to Real in the summer.

The French side are hopeful their golden boy will sign their new contract on the table, which would make him the fourth highest-paid footballer in the world.

But there remains widespread interest across Europe with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp a long-standing admirer of the French prodigy and hoping to beat Real to his signature.

The Anfield chief reportedly called Mbappe’s dad to discuss a potential Merseyside move.
