SEAN DYCHE has hailed David Silva for being one of the best players of the Premier League era – and for his hair.
Dyche’s Burnley will come up against Silva for the final time on Monday as the Manchester City star draws to the end of his farewell season after ten years in England.

And the follicly-challenged Clarets boss is in awe of the little Spaniard, saying: “Fantastic.
“Look there have been so many great players in the Premier League, English or foreign, and he’s got to be up there.
“I know there is an endless list of many but he has got to be in the top ten certainly, in my opinion.
“Year on year, just year on year, ask him to do a job and he does it. Year after year, top performer, energy, effort, awareness.
“I mean everything you would want out of an attacking player. And, by the way, he works.
“He’ll recover, he’ll get a foot in when he can and he’ll nick it. He’s not a big tackler but he’ll nick it. He’ll win a header when he can.
“He’s even got amazing hair – he’s got the best transplant I’ve ever seen! That guy, whatever he touches, it just turns to gold.”
Silva’s qualities as a player and a man have made a strong impression on Dyche, despite the pain of Burnley suffering some big defeats – as well as the odd victory – against City.
Silva helped City achieve a record-breaking 100-point season in the Premier League in 2017-18, despite the trauma of almost losing baby son Mateo after he was born prematurely.
The Clarets’ manager said: “I can’t tell you what big a fan I am.
“I’ve never enjoyed the fact that things have gone wrong for us at City – which they have done because they’re such a powerful team not because of a lack of effort from us.
“But eventually you come away from that and once your disappointment dissipates you do think of players like him.
“And he went through a lot with his little’un don’t forget, went through a really tough stage, but stayed focused to the cause and, when he had to, I believe, he flew out, flew back in, got on with the job.
“Professionally outstanding, as well as a great, great player.”
It’s fair to say that Dyche is a lot less enthusiastic about the situation he finds himself as Burnley prepare to join Project Restart.
Injuries to Chris Wood, Ashley Barnes and Johann Berg Gudmundsson, on top of uncertainty about the availability of five players out of contract on June 30, will make it hard for the Clarets to build on a run of four wins and three draws before coronavirus halted the Premier League in March.
Dyche said: “I did say at the beginning of the season that we had had the most competitive squad – not necessarily the best individually – that we had formed for a while, with true competition in virtually every position.
“That has now been challenged by injury and contract situations, but generally speaking I did believe in that.
“To get to this stage and be on 39 points is, I think, a decent return.
“I just hope that these things can be sorted out to allow us to play freely and as hard as we can in closing out the season, and deliver a good job.
“The first challenge is to stay in the Premier League.
“When that has factually happened – rather that wait for it, I’d like to make it happen with performances and points on the board – we will remain open-minded for what the rest of the season brings.”
