Brandon Williams ‘looks like he’d eat opponent’s nose to win’ – and stats prove Man Utd youngster DOES have mean streak

BRANDON WILLIAMS looks like he “would eat his opponent’s nose to win”, according to Gary Neville.

And the stats show the young left-back does have a mean streak in his game that he must remain cautious to keep in check.

Williams, 19, has gained the plaudits since breaking into the first team this season following injuries to Luke Shaw.

The academy star further established himself as first-choice left-back on Wednesday in United’s  1-0 victory over Wolves in their FA Cup third-round replay.

Club-legend Neville took to Twitter heaping praise on the youngster and insinuating he has a mean streak in his game.

Neville wrote: “I like Brandon Williams. What I like about him specifically is he has that look in his eye of someone that would eat his opponent’s nose to win the match.

“Keep going kid! Oh he can play football to which is always a bonus.”

And the stats prove that the former right-back is not wrong as only team-mate Ashley Young concedes more fouls per game.

Williams is averaging 1.3 fouls every game while also picking up six yellow cards.

It means he is receiving a booking every 191 minutes on the field – again only Young can top that with a yellow every 164 mins.

Williams’ style of play is coming at the detriment of his opponents including Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The England winger tussled with Williams during United’s 2-1 Carabao Cup victory in October before throwing him over the advertising hoardings.

He did something similar to Neal Maupay on his Premier League debut.

The rising star, who has won over supporters, recently signed a new deal to keep him at Old Trafford until 2022 with the option to extend it another year.
