Bournemouth have confirmed one player has returned a positive coronavirus result in the second round of testing
Eddie Howe had his full complement of first-team players back in at the training ground this week for the first phase of return to play.
No players tested positive for the initial round of testing, but this latest wave has revealed one to have contracted the virus.
A Cherries statement added: “Following strict adherence of the Premier League’s return to training regulations, the club’s training ground remains a safe working environment for players and backroom staff.
“They will continue to be tested for Covid-19 twice per week.”
The player is understood to be asymptomatic and feeling fine.
The news from the South Coast comes just a day after Watford were plunged into further crisis ahead of Project Restart.
Manager Nigel Pearson revealed a further two stars are staying away from the club as close friends or family members have tested positive for coronavirus.
Those two unnamed club members are in addition to Adrian Mariappa – who was the one player out of three club staff to test positive.
Troy Deeney and two team-mates are staying away from training due to health concerns.
Hornets ace Tom Cleverley had warned Project Restart would be in “jeopardy” if a host of players tested positive for Covid-19 in the next phase.
With Bournemouth already announcing one positive result, more clubs could follow today as the results are returned.
