Best Fifa nominee Cristiano Ronaldo not in top 10 players of 2020 according to data, with Messi leading Lewandowski

CRISTIANO RONALDO will once again go head-to-head with Lionel Messi for a prestigious individual honour in the race for The Best Fifa Men’s Player award 2020.

The pair – who have won 11 Ballons d’Or between them – join Robert Lewandowski on the three-man shortlist for the end-of-season honour.

But according to the stats, Ronaldo isn’t even among the top TEN players of 2020, let alone top three.

Research from Carteret Analytics have been crunching the numbers all year.

The company have looked at how each player in world football has helped their side win football matches and calculated their own individual ‘Carteret Rating’.

And despite Lewandowski being favourite for the 2020 award, Messi has the highest rating of all players this year.

The Argentine, 33, hasn’t had the best season by his own phenomenally high standards.

But even then, Messi has a rating of 317.4 – miles ahead of Ronaldo down in 11TH PLACE on 235.5.

Lewandowski does come in second with a rating of 310.3 – joining Messi as the only player to boast a score of over 300.

Liverpool’s famous Premier League winning year hasn’t gone unrewarded either.

Ronaldo and Messi are both named in the Ballon d’Or all-time best XI

The Reds have no fewer than FOUR players in the top 15, with Mohamed Salah joined by Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane and Thiago Alcantara – with the latter spending most of 2020 at Bayern Munich.

Premier League duo Kevin De Bruyne (297.9) and Harry Kane (274.9) come in third and fourth respectively.

Erling Haaland (272.3) comes in fifth, ahead of Salah (268.0), Van Dijk (264.6) and Karim Benzema (262.0).

Mane (254.2) and Chelsea new-boy Timo Werner (242.4) complete the top ten.

Ronaldo misses out on the top ten entirely, coming in 11th on 235.5.

The Juventus star, 35, sits ahead of Thiago (225.0), Thomas Muller (217.3), Neymar (184.7) and Paulo Dybala (183.0) in Carteret’s top 15 players of 2020.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo and Messi were BOTH named in the Ballon d’Or all-time best XI, along with the likes of Pele and Diego Maradona.
