In a desperate bid to protect their players, Bayern Munich released a statement on their club website.

It read: “Based on the recommendations of the Robert Koch Institute and their extended implementation, Prof. Dr. Roland Schmidt, the internal head of FC Bayern’s medial department, has advised that FC Bayern players refrain from signing autographs for the time being and also from being available for photos or selfies with fans.

“We ask for the understanding of our fans and all visitors to our training sessions and games.”

Bayern’s decision to ban fan interaction comes after Newcastle boss Steve Bruce banned his players from shaking hands.

West Ham have also banned handshakes and have given all of their players anti-bacterial hand gel.

Tottenham star Son Heung-min is set to self-isolate for two weeks following his return from South Korea.

The spread of the virus, which claimed its first British victim this week, could lead the Premier League to hold emergency crisis talks.

It needs to be decided whether Liverpool can be crowned champions if coronavirus wipes out the end of the season.

No games will be played in the top two divisions in Switzerland this weekend duo to the outbreak of Covid-19.
