Arsenal transfer target Kurzawa got 3/10 rating vs Ligue 2 Lorient and was singled out as weak link by minnows

ARSENAL fans will be worried after transfer target Layvin Kurzawa received an absymal rating for his performance against Lorient last night.

Paris Saint-Germain edged past Lorient in the French Cup 1-0 with a late winner from Pablo Sarabia.

But Kurzawa didn’t impress the notoriously hard-to-please newspaper L’Equipe, who gave him a 3/10 rating.

According to reports, Arsenal have agreed to sign the French left-back for free on a five-year deal.

Arsenal were eyeing up a £6million deal for the 27-year-old but are now going to wait until the summer when his contract expires.

Mikel Arteta is looking to boost his defence, who have only kept four clean sheets this season, as he begins a rebuild at the Emirates.

Kurzawa, who cost PSG £20million when they bought him from Monaco in 2015, was originally recommended to Arsenal by former manager Unai Emery.

Arsenal are struggling in the left-back position with summer signing Kieran Tierney out after having surgery on a dislocated shoulder and Sead Kolasinac suffering a thigh strain after recently returning from an ankle injury.

The left-back isn’t the only defender to have been linked with a move to North London.

Arteta is also keen on a loan deal for Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng as a short-term fix until the end of the season.

And RB Leipzig’s 21-year-old centre back Dayot Upamecano is also a long-term target, although any move for young Frenchman will have to wait until the end of the season.

Six wins in 23 Premier League games this season has been an awful return by Arsenal standards as they sit closer to the relegation zone than the top four.

Arsenal have endured a tough season so far, with the side 10th in the Premier League and Arteta knows he needs to improve his defence.

The fixtures aren’t getting any easier for the Gunners as they travel to Stamford Bridge tomorrow night to take on Chelsea.

Arteta needs to see a fast improvement in results as they aim to break into the Europa League qualification places.
