MIKEL ARTETA has a worse managerial record at Arsenal than his unpopular predecessor Unai Emery.
Gunners fans are loving life under Arteta with his exciting brand of football and the FA Cup and Charity Shield wins.
Unai Emery has a better managerial record than Mikel Arteta at Arsenal
But Premier League stats revealed today by SunSport show him behind Emery in various key areas.
Arteta has managed 21 top-flight games since he joined the North Londoners, winning ten – a win percentage of 48.
Emery, 48, won 25 of his 51 Prem games – a win percentage of 49.
Of Arteta’s 21 Premier League encounters he has drawn six, giving him a total points haul of 36 and a points-per-game (PPG) ratio of 1.71.
This puts him 0.02 PPG behind Emery who was sacked by the Gunners with 25 wins and 13 draws from 51 Prem clashes – a PPG total of 1.71.
Despite the current state of affairs, Arsenal fans are unlikely to be concerned by the information.
Their new boss appears to be on an upward curve, whereas Emery was in free fall when he was sacked last November.
Arteta has already managed eight Prem clean sheets from his 21 games whereas Emery – who is now Villareal manager – only managed ten from 51.
And with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang having signed a bumper new three-year deal, on top of the arrival of Willian, Gabriel and William Saliba, things are looking up.
Added to that Arsenal’s plans to keep spending this summer, and Arteta looks to have a good chance of turning those stats around.
His first opportunity comes on Saturday, when the Gunners face West Ham at home.
